How we help our customers make the most sustainable choice: When it comes to choosing the most sustainable products decision is more than just about the products. Althought what's in it is an important consideration, so too are how long it lasts and how much need to use.
What's in it?
Akzonobel and Forum to the Future have worked together to identify important goals for a more sustainable paint including the removal of lead from all our products and the reduction of both embodied carbon and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC's). In addition we developed a tool called the Environmental Imapct Analyser (eia), an essential tool for our formulating chemists.
How much do you need?
Choosing products with higher spreading rates without compromising on opacity will mean it goes further.
How long does it last?
An obvious way to reduce environmental impact is to use products that last longer and therefore extend maintenance cycles. Using durable products will ultimately have less impact on the environment by reducing not only the quantity of paint used over the long-term but elements such as the environmental impact of decoration (vans, travel etc), left over paint and waste packaging.
How each of our paints plays its part
Choosing and Dulux product minimises the environmental impact in terms of paint quantity, because high opacity and excellent coverage are common to all paints in our range. Where possible we also use water as a base for our products.
